CAROLINA BALDOMÁ
Carolina Baldomá is an Argentine visual artist who lives and works immersively in the landscape of the Argentine Pampas. Her practice moves across photography, video, and process-based image-making, exploring two interconnected lines of research: the relationship between humans and the natural world, pursued through coexistence and synchronicity; and the liminal experiences of young women, approached through a magical realism sensibility rooted in South American tradition. In works using cyanotype, anthotype, and chlorophyll prints, the intention is for nature itself to become the materiality of the image: matter, time, and territory intertwining in a co-creation with the land. Her research draws on a lineage of pioneering 19th-century women photographers and botanists whose engagement with science made fundamental contributions to art, reframing that history as a contemporary search for synchronicity with the living world. She is completing a master's thesis on this subject - specifically on 19th-century British women photographers and their relationship with botanical science - in Contemporary Art Curatorship at ESEADE, Buenos Aires, and is pursuing a Master's in Contemporary Photography at LENS Escuela de Artes Visuales, Madrid.
Baldomá has exhibited at the Griffin Museum of Photography (Massachusetts), PhotoPlace Gallery (Vermont), Soho Photo Gallery and Amanda Smith Gallery (New York and Texas), The Photographer's Eye (California), Museo Arte al Límite (Chile), and the Centro Cultural Rojas, Fundación Cazadores, and Museo de Bellas Artes MUBAL in Argentina. She has participated in Photo London and Pinta BAphoto. Her video work, conceived as an autonomous work within a contemporary land art practice, has been selected for the Photo London Screening Room (2026). Recent recognition includes Third Prize and a Juror's Selection in the Water competition at the New York Center for Photographic Art (2026), a shortlisting for the 167th International Photography Exhibition organised by the Royal Photographic Society (2026), a shortlisting for the Athens Photo Festival (2026), a finalist position for the Art Photography Awards by LensCulture (2026), a mention at the Pangue Video Festival by Building Bridges Foundation, Los Angeles (2026), a finalist position for the Fresh Photo Award organised by Klompching Gallery, New York (2025), and a Jury's Special Mention at the 112th National Visual Arts Salon, Palais de Glace, Buenos Aires (2025). She has also received distinctions from LensCulture, Lenscratch, and Femgrafía.
